| Don Giovanni |
Toronto-based Opera Atelier specializes in the production of opera, ballet, and drama from the 17th and 18th centuries, drawing upon the aesthetics and ideals of the period, showcasing soloists of international acclaim, and featuring period ballet, elaborate stage decor, exquisite costumes, and an imaginative energy that sets them apart. This glittering period production of Mozart’s dark, ironic comedy portrays the exploits of Don Giovanni, an irresistible young nobleman who seduces, abuses, and outrages everyone else in the cast, until he encounters something he cannot kill, beat up, dodge, or outwit. The artistic team includes director Marshall Pynkoski, choreographer Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg, music director David Fallis, set designer Gerard Gauci, and costume designer Martha Mann. Sung in Italian with English surtitles. Performed with the Opera Columbus Chorus and Columbus Symphony, and featuring the artists of Atelier Ballet. This production is generously underwritten by Michael A. Wekerle. www.OperaAtelier.com
