Elizabeth Blanquera is a vibrant and highly versatile artist from Columbus, Ohio. She attends The Ohio State University, where she studies with Dr. Robin Rice while working towards Bachelor’s degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education. Blanquera has most recently been seen in the Ohio State Opera and Lyric Theatre’s production of Dido and Aeneas as the Spirit. In the 2017-2018 season, Blanquera also took part in Opera Columbus’ educational outreach program, where she enjoyed getting to share her passion for music with students while performing as Lucy in the Billy Goats Gruff. In the 2016-2017 season, Blanquera performed the role of Maria in the Columbus Children’s Theatre’s production of West Side Story, and appeared in the ensemble of Ohio State’s Sweeney Todd. In previous seasons with The Ohio State Opera and Lyric Theatre, Blanquera has covered the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and participated in several evenings of cabaret, performing pieces by Kurt Weill, Cole Porter, and William Finn.
In the summer of 2017, Blanquera traveled to Los Angeles to be a Young Artist at the Summer Art Song Institute at SongFest. While there, she had the privilege of singing for Jake Heggie and Amy Burton in master classes, as well as performing in concerts throughout the program. The previous summer, Blanquera was the Encouragement Award Winner of the Opera Columbus Cooper-Bing Vocal Competition.
