In addition to his duties at The Ohio State University School of Music, assistant professor Ed Bak maintains an active career as an internationally recognized vocal coach and collaborative pianist. As a chamber musician he has shared the stage with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony. As an advocate of modern music Bak has performed the works of many living composers, and he has given the world premieres of several works. Bak is a member of the core faculty at Martina Arroyo's Prelude to Performance in New York City and a regular faculty member at the AIMS institute in Graz, Austria. He is also a charter member of the faculty at the International Academy in Sankt Goar, Germany.
As music director of the Nevada Opera Bak led the productions of Don Giovanni and Carmen, and as the permanent music director of the Wendy Taucher Dance Opera Theater he has performed in Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, and Key West.
