Karolyn Lee Gholston
Karolyn J. Lee, lyric soprano, is a native of Altoona, Pennsylvania. She received her B.A in Music Performance from Slippery Rock University of P.A. and then went on to earn her Masters of Music in Performance/Pedagogy from The Ohio University.
She has won first place in the Chad Williamson Scholarship Competition, National Association of Teachers of Singing and second place in the Leontyne Price Vocal Competition.
Karolyn's recent work includes the role of Lucia in I Due Timidi and a guest soloist in Arias in Ebony with Opera Project Columbus, guest artist with CAMA in Harrisburg, PA for African American women composers. She has also sang the role of Musetta in La Boheme with the first collaboration of shadow box and Opera Columbus.
Other roles include Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte in Firenze, Italy, with Westminster Florence Seminar, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Minty Rabbit in Barefoot with the Opera Columbus Outreach and Education program.
Along with her solo work she has extensive chorus work in Aida, Madama Butterfly, La Boheme, The Pearl Fishers and Turandot with Opera Columbus.
Karolyn is known for her many solo recitals & soirèes in Ohio and Pennsylvania singing many styles of music including opera/art songs, jazz and African American spirituals. Karolyn teaches voice in her private music studio in Dublin, Ohio.
