Liam McCarthy, age 13, is honored to be joining the cast and crew of Opera Columbus to play the part of Miles in these performances of Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw.
Liam McCarthy is a 13 year old boy soprano from Pittsburgh, PA. Liam has had the honor of singing with the Pittsburgh Opera, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra and the Johnston Symphony Orchestra. Most recently Liam performed a solo of the Charlie Brown song “Just Like Me” with the American jazz musician, David Benoit during his 2016 holiday tour.
Last year was a big year for Liam. In addition to all of these live performances, he recorded and released his first CD album. The album is a collection of sacred and cherished works sung a cappella.
Liam has been an active member of the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus (PYC) for seven years. This past summer, Liam traveled to England and sang with the PYC in Canterbury Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral in London.
Liam lives in Pittsburgh, PA and as an 8th grader his favorite subjects are American History and Music. He enjoys downhill skiing, travel soccer and golf. Liam wants to thank his parents, sister and brother for their love and support. Liam dedicates his performance to his younger brother Miles.
