Meet our 2014 Winner!

Talya Ilana Lieberman
Talya Liberman

Talya Ilana Lieberman, soprano, was most recently a featured soloist with the Café MoMus ensemble singing David del Tredici’s piece “Haddock’s Eyes.” She won first prize in the Alida Vane International Voice Competition in Latvia, where she was studying on a Fulbright scholarship for the 2012/2013 School year. She will be a participant in San Francisco Opera’s affiliate Merola Opera Program this coming summer. Talya is a convert from the orchestra pit and received her master’s degree in trumpet performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the tutelage of Judith Saxton. She completed her B.A. at Duke University with highest distinction in linguistics (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude). She won the Seybold-Russell Award for full tuition and stipend at the Opera Scholarship Competition of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma as a student of William McGraw.
