| Opera Columbus on the Go! (Grades 2-5) |
Bring opera into your school with an exciting program based on a fantastic tale. Opera Columbus on the Go! presents professional opera singers and students together on stage in an operatic version of the story of The Three Little Pigs based on scenes from operas by W. A. Mozart.
While brother pigs Don Giovanni and Cherubino set off to make homes of sticks and straw, their sister, Despina, goes to the library to read up on "huff-proof, puff-proof" home construction. After Wolfgang Bigbad blows down the boys' flimsy homes, they run to their sister's sturdy new brick house quite ready to admit that going to the library and reading books is a pretty smart thing to do after all!
Opera Columbus offers schools a one-hour, in-school student workshop on the day of the performance that helps up to 30 students perform as part of the chorus. Teachers are provided with a comprehensive Resource Guide, a rehearsal CD and a copy of the children's chorus music in advance.
NEW THIS YEAR! Are you a music teacher who is at two buildings a day and three buildings a week? Would you love to have your students exposed to a fully-staged and costumed production, but just don't have the time to prepare a chorus to participate? This year we are offering a version of The Three Little Pigs that does not require the use of a children's chorus. Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity and book your show today!
