A. Three Little Pigs
(offered Tuesdays and Thursdays)
While brother pigs Don Giovanni and Cherubino set off to make homes of sticks and straw, their sister, Despina, goes to the library to read up on "huff-proof, puff-proof" home construction. After the bully Wolfgang Bigbad blows down the boys’ flimsy homes, they run to their sister’s sturdy new brick house where they are never bullied again.
B. Little Red’s Most Unusual Day
(offered Mondays and Fridays)
Forest Ranger Dudley is too shy to ask Little Red’s mom, the widow Hood, to the Forest Ranger Ball. For that reason he leaves a written invitation in a basket of flowers outside Little Red’s house. Unfortunately for Dudley, the basket is delivered to Granny. Needless to say, Granny does not mind one bit. The very sly and clever Mr. Bigbad Wolf, steals Dudley’s clothes and follows Little Red to Granny’s house. Granny kisses Mr. Wolf, Mom gets impatient, Little Red gets in trouble and Mr. Wolf is almost chopped into “Reese’s Pieces” for being a bully. In fact, everyone experiences, in one way or another, a very, very unusual day.
Grade levels K-5
Duration: 45 min. (10 minute talk back with the artists following is optional)
Chorus for Three Little Pigs:
Should you choose a student chorus, Opera Columbus staff will come to your school a few weeks prior to the performance to stage the student chorus so they know where to stand and act in the show. Opera Columbus also offers a one-hour, in-school student workshop on the day of the performance that helps up to 30 students perform as part of the opera chorus. Teachers are provided with the chorus music and CD in advance.
Non-chorus option: We also offer versions of both shows that do not require the use of a children’s chorus.
With Children’s Chorus:
$300 single performance or
$400 for two back-to-back performances
Without Children’s Chorus:
$250 single performance or
$350 for two back-to-back performances
*Need based support is available to schools that qualify
