| 2011-2012 Season |
We hope you are as excited about our 2011-12 season as we are. From Mozart to The Mikado, you’re sure to enjoy this season in our new home—the exquisite and historic Southern Theatre (21 E. Main St.).
We are thrilled about the new relationships we’ll be building this coming year and in years to come. In November, Toronto-based Opera Atelier will come to Columbus and, along with our Opera Columbus Chorus and Columbus Symphony, will present Mozart’s Don Giovanni. This critically-acclaimed opera company, later in the season, will debut its production of Jean-Baptiste Lully’s Armide at the Glimmerglass Festival, North America’s most prestigious opera festival.
After sold out performances of 2010-11’s The Pirates of Penzance, Columbus audiences will once again be delighted by the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players in June. The company, along with the Opera Columbus Chorus and Columbus Symphony, will dazzle you with Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado.
As a season special, renowned mezzo-soprano, Denyce Graves will return to Columbus in March. The Opera Columbus Irma M. Cooper Vocal Competition winner will perform a mixed repertoire of arias, spirituals, and light opera standards.
We hope that you will join us this year and take the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful season! |
