
Karolyn Lee Gholston, soprano, has gained a stellar reputation in operatic and recital works in Central Ohio. She is native of Altoona, Pennsylvania and received a BA from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in music performance. She went on to earn her M.M in Performance/Pedagogy from The Ohio University.
Recent engagements with Opera Columbus have included guest vocalist in the productions of The Journey and The Voice of Freedom (2019-2018). Recent opera roles include Annie in The Flood Workshop (2018), Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (2018), Anna (Donna Anna) in #UncleJohn an adaptation of Mozart’s Don Giovanni (2017) and Musetta in La Bohèmé (2012-13) with the first collaboration of Shadow Box and Opera Columbus’s “Opera on the Edge”.
Karolyn has also performed the roles of the Infirmary Nun in Suor Angelica (2017), Lucia in Nino Rota’s I Due Timidi (2016) and Guest Artist in Aria’s in Ebony (2014) all with Opera Project Columbus. Karolyn will be singing the upcoming role La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi this fall with Opera Columbus.
