Jamaican-American tenor Terrence Chin-Loy recently completed his first engagement at the Metropolitan Opera as Mingo (Cover) in Porgy and Bess. The 2019-2020 season also saw Terrence in performances of Messiah with the U.S. Naval Academy Orchestra and Glory Denied at Penn Square Music Festival. Later, he will appear with the Hilton Head Symphony as the tenor soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Other favorite roles include Idomeneo in Idomeneo: Afterwards (Pittsburgh Opera), Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (Indiana University Opera Theatre) and Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos (Santa Fe Opera). A lover of song, Terrence has also appeared with the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute in several concerts and will appear with the New York Festival of Song in the Schwab Vocal Rising Stars Concert this season. In the 2020-2021 season, he will join the Arizona Opera Marion Roose Pullin Studio where he will perform a leading role in The Copper Queen, a new opera, and Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore. Terrence is a 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Semifinalist.
